What is Cable Haunt?
Cable Haunt is a vulnerability recently announced in a few specific cable modems. The vulnerability enables remote attackers to intercept private messages, redirect traffic, or otherwise cause issues with your Internet service.

Are Mediacom modems affected?
Mediacom is working diligently with our cable modem equipment partners regarding this vulnerability to confirm the equipment is secure and if not so, resolve the issue with a software update.
In the meantime, we have independently tested and validated that the following list of Mediacom provided devices are not affected by this vulnerability.

What should a customer do if they believe they may be at risk?
Go to https://cablehaunt.com for more information and to determine if they are at risk. Additionally, if a customer would like to rent our modem not affected by this vulnerability, we can ship them a replacement.
Can Mediacom upgrade my retail modem software to fix this issue?
Mediacom does not have the independent ability to update retail modem software. We are reaching out to retail modem providers to work on assisting them with updates, but we cannot provide any assurances or timelines at this point.
